How do I make an appointment?

If you are considering traveling abroad, it is essential to contact the International Travel Nurse as soon as possible but at least 6 weeks before your planned departure date.  This applies to group leaders who are arranging for group meetings as well.  Group leaders, please include a list of all members of your group along with their WFU ID numbers.  If your date of departure is fewer than 6 weeks away, please email the Travel Nurse at this link.

Step 1

Step 2

If you are traveling to a malaria-endemic country, follow this link for tips on how to choose an anti-malaria medication that is right for you. If you are unsure if you are traveling to a malaria-endemic region, please visit the CDC website.

When you meet with the Travel Nurse she will discuss your choice of medication and answer any questions you have about these medications.

Step 3

After completing step 1 you will receive an email from the Travel Nurse instructing you to log in to the Deacon Health Student Portal to complete a confidential medical history form.  The information you provide in this form allows us to create a travel medicine plan specific to your medical needs. Group leaders; please advise those traveling in your group to look for this email. It is VERY important to complete this form as soon as possible.

The Travel Clinic nurse will contact you when your information has been reviewed to schedule an appointment for you to discuss your itinerary in more detail. For those traveling in a group, the Travel Nurse will contact the student adviser or staff/faculty adviser to schedule a meeting. We will make every effort to work out schedules to accommodate group meetings.
