Allergy Injections

The Student Health Service provides allergy immunotherapy following appropriate evaluation by an allergist. This evaluation may be done by a hometown physician or by a physician in Winston-Salem (referrals are available upon request).

Injections are given according to the written instructions of the patient’s allergist. Because of potential reactions, the initial dose of the immunotherapy should be given by the prescribing allergist. The Health Service will be happy to continue the injection series once the initial dose has been given elsewhere. The patient must provide the written instructions from the allergist along with the appropriate serum. Syringes and epinephrine do not need to be included with the vaccine (we have our own supply).

Injections are given during regular clinic hours by appointment only. Appointments must be made at least 24 hours prior to desired appointment time. There is a minimal administration fee based upon the number of injections an individual receives.

If you are planning to receive allergy injections call Student Health at 336.758.5218 and speak with the allergy nurse for more information.
